Obituary of Edward R. Sherwin

Edward R. Sherwin, 76, of Cazenovia, passed away unexpectedly at home Sunday, March 13, 2016. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania a son to the late, Walter and Stella Kosmer Sherwin, Edward graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Engineering and from Penn State with his M.S. in Engineering. He was an Industrial Engineer and was a Licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. Edward’s career began with US Steel in Homestead, PA, Corning Glass in Parkersburg, WV, Lukens Steel in Coatesville, PA and he retired in 1996 from Carrier Corporation in Syracuse. Upon his first retirement, Ed went to work for Alion Science and Technology in Rome, NY until his final retirement in 2014. Edward was a member of A.I.I.E., a coach and past president of FM Pop Warner Football and coached his children’s Little League baseball teams. Ed was a communicant of St. James Church. He enjoyed working with wood to build furniture and restored an old house. Ed was an avid golfer and a past member of the Cazenovia Country Club. Mr. Sherwin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Sherwin of Cazenovia; four children, Peter (Rita) Sherwin of Midwest City, OK, Carrie Weaver of Choctaw, OK, Michael (Maria) Sherwin of San Antonio, TX and Gregory (Dawn) Sherwin of Cornelius, OR; one sister, Audrey Kaplack of Sewickley, PA; eight grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. James Church,6 Green St., Cazenovia. Contributions in memory of Mr. Sherwin may be made to the Parkinson Research Foundation, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd., Suite 100, Sarasota, FL. 34232. Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, Cazenovia is assisting the Sherwin family.
