Velma Irene Clancy, 99, of Delphi Falls, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. Born April 19, 1918 in Pompey, a daughter to the late, William and Cora Niles, Velma grew up in Watervale and lived in Delphi Falls since 1946. She worked for 26 years at The Maples Restaurant in Pompey. Velma was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Pompey and worked at the rectory with Rev. William Regan and Rev. Paul Carey. She worked as a Democrat Election Inspector for the Town of Pompey for 30 years.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Velma was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Guy Clancy in 1999; by a daughter, Judy Conway in 2012 and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Clancy in 1982.
Velma is survived by her son, Patrick E. (Margy) Clancy of New Woodstock; son-in-law, James Conway of Fabius;  eight grandchildren, Patti (Phil) Ondocin, Michael (Joanie) Conway, Danielle Conway, David (Amy) Conway, Dan (Kelly) Clancy, Rick (Cheryl) Clancy, Nathan Ryan and Daniel (Shelli) Ryan; 10 great grandchildren, Kaeleigh Beebe, Ryan Ondocin, Colleen Conway, Tara Lynn Conway, Megan Clancy, Faith Clancy, Logan Clancy, Frank Ryan, Mike Ryan and Kate Ryan.
Velma’s family was her greatest sense of pride. Her heart and home were always open and available for them. A good meal and a listening ear solved many problems at her kitchen table.
