Obituary of Jennifer Jo Stone

Jennifer Jo Stone, 54, of Cazenovia and formerly of Potsdam, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Born on March 23, 1971, in Potsdam, to Ivan and Judy Hinman, Jennifer was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend whose gentle spirit touched all who knew her. A graduate of Potsdam High School, Jennifer spent much of her early life in her hometown, where she worked alongside her beloved mother as a childcare provider. Her nurturing heart and quiet strength made her a comforting presence in the lives of many children and families. She had a deep love of reading and found joy and freedom in horseback riding during her younger years. Jennifer is survived by her devoted husband of 25 years, Brian Stone of Cazenovia; her cherished stepson, Tyler (Jo) Stephenson; and her beloved grandchildren, Skyler and Hailey, who brought immense light to her life. She is also survived by her brothers, Greg (Michelle) Hinman of Colonie, NY, and Gary Hinman of Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Emily; her parents, Ivan and Judy; and her siblings, Bill, Leslie, Shannon, and Rosemarie Hinman. Though she faced great losses, Jennifer carried herself with grace and compassion, always putting others before herself. Jennifer’s kindness, quiet humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held at a later date.
