Karl was my role model when I was growing up in Perry, NY. To me he was a war hero, a
successful businessman, and an active churchman. I sat in his Sunday School class as a
teen and sang with him in the choir. My parents, Guy and Bertha, were resident grand-
parents to his growing family. We had many enjoyable meals together. My working life took me to Oneida, NY, and Karl and I reacquainted at Caz Lake where he lived with his
daughter. As his obituary relates, he led an interesting and creative life. I'm glad he lived
a long and happy life and received some of the recognition he deserved. My wife Ann and I
extend our condolences to his family and know that he is now in a place of eternal joy
where we will eventually be reunited.

I am saddened by this news and offer my condolences to you all.
I did not know uncle Karl as an adult, but wish I had. I remember about the nighty-nites and have memories, as a five year old visiting our grandparents in Wheaton, that uncle Karl showed my dad and another adult man how to disarm a man! I was standing out of the way in the hallway when the scuffle happened and someone told me what was going on...
I enjoyed reading some of his writings from time to time when I visited mom. I recall her musings about her big brother's exploits and of her sister's beauty. Years ago I got a call from one of aunt Pat's children (I believe) as they were driving by somewhere near Knoxville. Please do so again and keep in touch. I would like to meet you next time you are anywhere near western North Carolina
The story in the obituary is fascinating and am glad to have been related to such a fascinating man.

Please accept my condolences. Although I never met Uncle Karl I shared with him some correspondence when he went to visit our cousins, whom I knew, in Arvika, Sweden.
It was very interesting to get to know more of his life and adventures during WWII and I was happy when he told me how God had been with him over the years in a very wonderful loving and caring way and for this he was so grateful. Now he sees God face to face. Greetings from Italy

I am very sorry about the loss of your father. May your hearts find comfort from your memories of him. May you also find comfort that God understand your pain and that He promises to remove death and wipes the tears from all eyes but to remove death from the earth and bring your love ones back to life. Revelation 21:3,4 and John 5:28,29 May your hearts find peace and comfort at this difficult time.

wanted to send my condolences. Met uncle Karl only once when he came to visit. He was a big fellow. Mostly I've always been grateful to him for providing my mom with money to buy the house (where I now reside). This was after we came back from Italy and we had nothing. It was money Mom needed very badly and all of us were most grateful.
Sincerely
Dan McConnell

Please accept sincere condolences from Margaret Payne's daughter-in-law and her grandchildren. Although we never knew Uncle Karl personally, family stories bridged the miles and gave life to the pictures.
What a reunion they have among so great a cloud of witnesses.
Blessings to each and all.
