I had the pleasure of working with Don at the Cape on the Delta Programs. Respected by all, he had a unique ability to achieve consensus when there were often strong disparate opinions present concerning technical conditions. I was shocked to learn of his passing and pass on my condolences to his entire family. Peace my friend!

Awake and shout joyfully,

Very sorry to hear the news of Don's passing. While we only worked in a professional capacity we did have the opportunity to share some personal thoughts and feelings. Even during the most boring of meetings, when Don spoke, everyone listened... he had a wealth of technical knowledge to share and only did so to make the project a success. I can say I truly trusted Don's opinions and relied on his advice. Rest in peace Don!

Arlene,
So sorry about your loss. I don’t think we ever met, but I first met Don back in 2002 working on multiple Delta II missions. Don’s late-night radio voice and dominating presence made me take notice early on and I enjoyed working with him as a colleague, but it was not until I got to know him better as a friend in the last 5 years was I truly impressed with how great of a person he was, with his hippy hair and laid back attitude! Though Don’s career was amazing, specifically having a major role in putting the GPS constellation on orbit, it was great to get to work with him in his semi-retired state as we both worked various aspects of Falcon 9 together. Don was able to get me out of several binds when I needed a subject matter expert in the areas of Systems, Avionics or Safety, and I was so happy to give him what he commonly referred to as the perfect amount/type of work to keep him engaged in the rocket biz. When Don first told me about the cancer, I just kept thinking, Life is not fair! How can this happen to such a great person. Don’s passion for the rocket industry was great, but I know he greatly valued and preferred his time with you, his kids, and the pets in retirement. I am sorry that I will not be able to make the celebration at Coconuts as I live in AZ and will be on travel that day, but I will make sure to visit Coconuts (his favorite hangout) on my next trip to Florida to have a beer in his honor.
Cheers,
Shea

I worked with Don when he supported TASC as an independent contractor.
Don, touched my life because he was full of life, sort of a big kid. I would always reach out to Don when in town. I just arrived in Cocoa Beach and who was on my mind? Don. Then I heard the sad news of his passing.
I will be at Coconuts, Wednesday to say "CHEERS" to a GOOD MAN!! with a BRAVE heart.

Arlene,
I'm so glad we've been friends all these years and through you I got to know Don.
He was a fine man and I'll always remember that deep voice and smile.
Your time together was way to short but your wonderful memories will always keep him in your heart.
Hugs,
Tootie

Don was greatly loved fast and welcomed into our family. He was special late gift for my aunt. We enjoyed St Lawrence river boat tour last summer and learning all great things he helped with rockets getting to space . He will be truly missed.

I only got to know Don a little while, near the end. Arlene and Kathy were best friends, or I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to have that few months getting to know him. He impressed me as a thoughtful and caring sort, and he and Arlene together became fast and wonderful friends.
My heart goes out to Arlene and Don’s family.
