I had the privilege of counting Wilma a special friend at Brookdale Manlius. I conducted a weekly worship service there on Wednesday afternoons. She attended faithfully and always had such encouraging words to say about the service. They were always nice, but I knew with Wilma they were also real and genuine. Wilma gave me a small gift of money at Christmas time to share with a person in need. This was her way of giving a birthday gift to Jesus. I had just given the gift but had not been able to tell her about it, but I know she would have smiled. She gave me a couple of books last fall. One of them is a devotional book that I'm reading this year. Her faith in God's love was genuine and it glowed through her. I am so grateful that I got to share a bit of life with her. I will miss her on Wednesdays, but I praise God for her. Dennis Doerr, retired Presbyterian pastor.
