Obituary of Elizabeth Carncross

Elizabeth “Beth” Hollis Carncross, 59, of Cazenovia died Thursday, March 23, 2023 comforted by her family at her side. She was born February 16, 1964 in Syracuse to James and Susan Carncross and was a graduate of Jamesville Dewitt High School. Beth continued her education and was a graduate of Onondaga Community College, the College of Boca Raton and attended Le Moyne College. While attending the College of Boca Raton, Beth acted as an “extra” in several movies. With a keen eye for decoration, she was employed as a display manager at several local department stores arranging floor and window displays. Beth completed several marine courses including her STCW Certification, medic and marine firefighters certificate to earn her USCG Master License for up to 100 ton vessels. As a Charter Boat Captain, Beth guided tourist and fun seekers on the waters of Ocean City, Maryland. With an eccentric flare, Beth could always be counted on to bring her enthusiasm to any event. A smile, laugh and a bag of goodies, no one was left out of her thoughtfulness. Beth enjoyed attending horse shows and earned many ribbons as well as assisting the blind how to ride horses. She liked to go skiing, being outdoors and traveling especially to Hawaii, Europe and throughout the United States. For many years, Sam her pet Chow was her sidekick and beloved companion. She also enjoyed competing in fishing tournaments. Beth was a member of the Dewitt Community Church and attended the Summit Church in Cazenovia. Beth touched the lives of all she encountered and will be forgotten by none. She is survived by her mother, Susan Higgins Carncross; her brother, Jamie (Terry) Carncross; her nephew, Josh and her niece, Sydney. Beth was predeceased by her father, James R. Carncross on March 21, 2017. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Beth’s memory may be made to CAVAC, 106 Nelson St., Cazenovia, NY 13035.
