Obituary of Bruce D. King

Bruce D. King, 81, of Cazenovia, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. He was born January 23, 1942 in Rome, New York to Robert and Jane King and was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy in 1960. Bruce had a long career in the flooring business and was employed with Tile & Carpet Town for over 30 years and retired from Manco Distributors after 15 years of service. Bruce was well known and well respected among his peers. Bruce was a devoted member of the Cazenovia Lodge #616, F&AM, Washington Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Norwich Commandery, Knights Templar, Syracuse Council: Cryptic Masons, Ziyrah Shrine, St. Leo’s Red Cross Constantine. He was also a member of the Madison Star #119 and Silver Star #21, Order of the Eastern Star. Bruce was elected to several offices with these organizations and was honored to receive several state appointed offices as well; most recently as District Grand Lecturer of the Cortland-Madison District, Order of the Eastern Star. A title he held for the ninth time from 1992 through the 2023-2024 term. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Marshall-King; his daughter, Wendy (Keith) Horton; his granddaughter, Lynn; his grandson, John; his great grandchildren, Jenna, Brianna, Mathew, Jordan, Brooklyn and Katerina; his brothers, Donn, Keith (Nancy) and Robert (Joan) King; his sisters, Barbara Belge, Lisa King Smith (David) and Michele Boek as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his first wife, Molly King; his daughters Beth Ann and Susan; his son, Mark and grandson Keith Horton, Jr. and by his brothers, Allen, and Harold King, Bruce was full of life, loved his family and all of his many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, November 27, 2023 in St. James Church, 6 Green Street, Cazenovia. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia. Calling hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2023 with an Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic services being held at 3 p.m. at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road in Cazenovia. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Eastern Star Foundation, 1400 Utica St., Unit 106, Oriskany, NY 13424.
