Obituary of John Monson
John A. “Jack” Monson, 94, of Manlius passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born in Edmeston, New York, a son to the late Alfred E. and Rose Monson, Sr. and resided in Eastwood and Fabius before moving to Manlius in 2011. Jack graduated from Edmeston Central School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Jack graduated from Syracuse University in 1958. He was an Electrical Engineer for 28 years with Syracuse Research Corporation and then he was a founding partner of Research Associates of Syracuse, where he worked for 12 years, retiring in 1998. Upon retirement, Jack was the co-founder of J. & J. Custom Sawing. At 70, Jack studied furniture design at SUNY Morrisville. He has built beautiful furniture and mentored young men and refugees in woodworking and practical life skills. Jack loved the Lord and was married for 68 years to Barbara. He was a member of Eastern Hills Bible Church since 1966.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Alfred Monson Jr., Richard Monson, and Barbara Hart. John is survived by his wife, Barbara Monson; his children, Betsy (Rick) Chiesa of Orlando, FL, Marilyn (Karl) Anderson of Chittenango, Ruth (Sean) Day of Clay and Ronald Monson of Ballston Lake; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Eastern Hills Bible Church, 8277 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius, NY 13104 followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia.
