Our sympathies to Reggie's family. What a long and artistic life he lived! We felt like we had known him forever--he painted a wonderful, abstract teacher-in-a-classroom scene as a gift for my parents' wedding (1960) that still hangs in their living room today.
Other "Reggie Originals" adorn my childhood home and my own home in Connecticut, as well. We love his gorgeous nature etchings, each with vines and rocks and leaves winding their way up the paper. We have always treasured his art and now we treasure his memory. My mother recalls Elsie's wonderful writing, and we will miss them both.
Love from Amy (Feldman) Bernon, Laura Feldman and Abby Feldman

I met your dear parents in 2019, when Reggie was one of Menorah Park's Shining Stars, recognized for all he did to make life on our campus happier and brighter. We became fast friends, and i looked forward to visiting with him, both at the Inn and later at the Jewish Home. He was generous and upbeat, talented and patient with one so artistically challenged as I, and I am proud to have some of his artwork in my home. I'm only sorry he wasn't my art teacher!
I will miss him always, and wish all of you the comfort of good memories. Thank you for sharing him with all of us.

Reg was always a beacon of positivity and happy engagement with life. The story of his service during WWII and his joy in service to others through art were always inspiring. I'm grateful to have been his neighbor and appreciate the role he and Elsie played in my daughter's lives.

I owe a lot to Reggie Adams, for all he did to encourage and support this budding artist. I once heard someone say that almost all five year olds answer "Yes" when asked, "Are you an artist?" or "Are you a singer?' It isn't very long before they change their minds. Mr. Adams was my art teacher from Moses DeWitt to JDMS, and we exchanged letters, and artwork, about 10 years ago, after I read that he was still teaching.
Funny what you remember. He talked about the criticisms of Picasso, critiques like, "A child could have made that." He explained that they hadn't, and what was special about him was that he was an original, breaking new ground. I also remember his lessons about not wasting. He cut the paper towels down so that they would hold a tablespoon of paste, just enough for each student to use during class. Finally, the football team doctor, John Holmes, was our family doctor. He had paintings of railroad scenes hanging in his office, all the work of Mr. Adams.
Thanks and rest in peace!

My mom is a resident on the 2nd floor. We visited Reggie's room, talking with him and observing his beautiful artwork. He was a beautiful, talented soul.
Fly high Reggie. You certainly left your mark.

I never had the opportunity of having Mr. Adams for art class- neither Moses DeWitt Elementary School (I attended elementary school in the City); 7th grade at Jamesville-DeWitt Junior High School (I had Mrs. Louise Chamberlain who ended all my art aspirations as I explored music - which I was better at) and 8th grade at Jamesville-DeWitt Middle School (I chose chorus, concert band and music theory with Mr. Russo)
Those students who took art classes with Mr. Adams described him as kind, patient, clear instructions and a mentor as many of my classmates have already written. Even after he retired from the Jamesville-DeWitt School District, he taught art classes to seniors at various venues. Creating art was his life's passion for a century. He is a noble candidate to be inducted into the Jamesville-DeWitt Fine Arts Hall of Fame, though now posthumously. Sleep well Mr. Adams and thank the Lord, a drum stick was placed in my hands rather than a paint brush. The world is much better off with that decision.

He was a good friend of my mom's, they taught together at JD Middle School. We had some of his original artwork sketches at our house. And we lived on the same street. He had a nice place down at the end of the street with a backyard that faded into the woods with a little brook, and we used to go there and chase fireflies some summer nights. A really nice man who was very nice to us as little kids.

My whole family were lifelong friends of Reg who was my first art teacher at Moses DeWitt elementary. He and Elsie were best friends with my mother, a special ed teacher and Tecumseh and Moses DeWitt. Many dinners together, summer visits to our cabin in the St. Lawrence. Reg introduced me to my wife and gave her away at our wedding in Washington State. We will miss him greatly.

I had Mr. Adams for art class in 8th grade. We kept in touch over the years. He would keep me up-to-date on his shows. He was a wonderful teacher. I still vividly remember--and use to this day--a lesson on umwelt by having us make Agamographs.
He will surely make heaven sing with color and design.

Reg and Elsie were good friends of my parents, Pat (Dight) and Paul Rill as Elsie's family, Ward and Charlotte Bambury were good friends of my grandparents, Howard and Peg Dight in Phoenix.. I recall many fond memories as a child, and later as an adult, of gatherings that included Reg and Elsie. In fact, a painting that Reg did for my wedding almost 50 years ago, still hangs on my dining room wall. My condolences to Bruce and "Robbie" and their families. Pam Cook Sivers
