Obituary of Michael A. Corpin
Michael A. Corpin, 71, of Morrisville passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 unexpectedly. Myke was born December 16, 1953 in Canastota to Francis R. and Lenora A. Corpin. He was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton Central School in 1972. Myke continued his education and received Associate’s degrees in Electrical Technology from S.U.N.Y. Morrisville and in Criminal Justice from S.U.N.Y. Mohawk Valley Community College. Michael also held a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology (Summa Cum Laude) from S.U.N.Y Polytechnic Institute. He retired from the New York State Police after 20 years of service. Upon his retirement from the State Police, he was employed at Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College where he served as the Campus Police Chief and Dean of Students. In his later years, Myke was employed as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide at Morrisville-Eaton Central, Hamilton, and Stockbridge. Michael served the Town of Smithfield as a three-term Town Justice and as the superintendent of the Peterboro Cemetery Association. He was also employed with the Syracuse University Campus Security Force. Beyond his professional achievements, he had a variety of interests which included: motorcycles, baseball, coaching, officiating and basketball. Myke was a gifted musician, enjoyed gardening, was a member of the Owls Club and a fan of the NY Yankees and Syracuse Sky Chiefs. Most of all, Michael’s greatest passion was people. He held immense pride in his family, friends and community.
Michael is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia Arnold Corpin; his children, Amy (Steve) Bertella and their sons, Aidan and Gavin of Wampsville, Kayla Lenora Corpin and her daughter, Najilah Daniels (Marc Daniels and his children, Javarin and Kaiyen) of Oneida and Emily (Joseph) VanDee and their sons, Eli and Miles of Erieville; his brothers, Russell (Cindy) Corpin of Camden, Owen (Alberta) Corpin of Peterboro and James (Darlene) Corpin of Peterboro as well as several nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Francis R. and Lenora A. Corpin.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025 in the auditorium of the Morrisville-Eaton High School, 5061 Fearon Road in Morrisville with a memorial service to follow at 5 p.m. in the auditorium.
