I have been thinking so much about Aunt Toloa’s passing. I loved her art, her whimsy, her grace with her animals and her practical nature. She enriched my life and she will be greatly missed

Dear Jim, Tanya, Heather and Family,
We were shocked and saddened to learn that Toloa had died. What a beautifully written obituary that encompassed all that made her a very special lady and neighbor. She was such a beautiful, kind and caring soul. May you and your family be surrounded by peace.
Love, Tony, Margie, Will & Laura

Toloa was a dear friend of our mother and father, Mary and Howard Burris. She along with her husband Jim spent many a day up at our family cottage in Canada, going out to dinner, and attending local events. She was a talented artist and gave my parents a beautiful watercolor of their beloved dog Duncan, which they treasured. We enjoyed getting to know Toloa during a sailing adventure in the Windward islands. She was a trooper as it was extremely windy and the sailing was very dicey. Throughout this she never voiced a complaint. She even went on another sailing adventure with my dad to Croatia following that experience! My dad who is coming up on his 92 birthday would have loved to attend the memorial services for Toloa however due to health issues, is unable to travel. He extends his condolences to Jim his dear friend and adventurous skiing, canoeing buddy, along with Tanya, and Heather. With heartfelt condolences.
Pam Burris and Jeff Johnson.

Toloa and Jim were our neighbors for several years when we lived on Burlingame Road. Toloa was always very kind to my kids, Livy and Georgie. She encouraged them to pet whatever horse she was tending to in her barn! My daughter remembers an orange barn cat that Toloa "adopted" (or was it the other way around?) ! We also had a young Polish woman, Anna, living with us for awhile. Anna was a rider without a horse so Toloa made her own horse available to Anna...so kind. May she rest in peace. Anne Fontana

Toloa (and Jim) added soooo much to my world, as I’m sure they did for everyone who knew them. Wonderful woman in so many ways; I’m very glad I got to know her and her family. Rest in peace; there are now endless scenes to paint and horses to ride.
