Obituary of Gary W. Reichel
Gary W. Reichel, 78, of Pompey, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, April 2, 2025 with his family by his side. Gary was born June 15, 1946 in Syracuse to Ralph and Beverly Reichel and was a graduate of Marcellus High School. He completed a two-year apprenticeship in sheet metal fabrication. Gary was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #58 in East Syracuse and was employed at House Sheet Metal in Syracuse for over 30 years. Gary enjoyed fishing, traveling, going on cruises, visiting local casino’s and cooking on his grill. He had a seasonal campsite for many years at East Coast Resorts where he met many new friends. Gary will be remembered for being a good neighbor and always being there to lend a hand to those in need.
Gary is survived by his three children, Cary Lynn Reichel, Heather (Ned) Schlafer and William (Kristy) Reichel; four grandchildren, Devon Schlafer, Lily, Cala and Simeon Reichel; his great granddaughter, Avery Schlafer. In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Mary M. Reichel and by his brother, Allen Reichel.
A calling hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025 with services to follow at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road in Cazenovia.
