Obituary of William R. Amlott

William R. “Bill” Amlott, 76, of DeRuyter died peacefully on July 22, 2025 at St. Camillus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Bill was born on September 16, 1948 in Syracuse the son of George and Hilda McCluskey Amlott. He was raised in Syracuse and was a graduate of Henniger High School. Following high school, Bill enlisted with U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for eight years and was honorably discharged on August 6, 1976. Bill had been a custodian in the Cazenovia Central School District for several years retiring in 2018. He was a member of the American Legion South Otselic Post 973 and a life member of the VFW in Hernando Beach, Florida where he and his brother spent many winters together. Bill is survived by his brothers, Edward Amlott of Smyrna and George (Susan) Amlott of Michigan; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Amlott of DeRuyter as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Donald; a sister-in-law, Shirley and three sisters Suzanne, Judith and Jean. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Cemetery Street, DeRuyter. There will be no calling hours.
