Obituary of Beatrice Lewis Putnam
Beatrice Lewis Putnam entered the eternal kingdom on July 24, 2025. Beatrice was born in Sherrill, New York on February 11, 1930 to Gertrude and Clifford Lewis. She grew up in Oneida Castle, New York and was a graduate of SUNY Morrisville in 1950 with an Associate’s degree in dietary. While at Morrisville, she met the love of her life, Norman Putnam. They were married in November of 1950 and would have been married 70 years when Norman passed in July of 2020.
Beatrice never dreamed she would be a farmer’s wife but she shined in that role. Beatrice and Norman were a team that did everything together. In the 1960’s, they sold the cows and then established Putnam’s Horse Haven. This was a true love for them where they made so many friends in the horse business traveling to horse shows and all that went with that.
Beatrice and Norman had three children, Douglas (Michele) Putnam of Doylestown, PA, Janet (John) McLaughlin of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Christine Mann of Fabius NY; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several special people in her life including Sheri Freunsch, who loved and cared for Beatrice like her own mother. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Norman; brother, Theodore; and her sister, Helen.
Mom’s deep faith carried her through many health issues. She was a longstanding member of the Pompey United Church that later became The Pompey Community Church.
