Obituary of Leonard Spinelli

Please share a memory of Leonard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Loving grandfather and father Leonard Spinelli died of surgical complications following a coronary bypass on Friday May the 16th. He leaves behind his uniquely caring wife of 62 years, Irene (Giuliano) Spinelli, his children; Esther (John) Caletka, David Spinelli, Stephen (Pauline) Spinelli, and Elise Spinelli and his grandchildren so very precious to him: Danielle Caletka, Nathaniel, Christopher and Peter Spinelli. Leonard was born in Pittston, Pennsylvania and raised in New Jersey. After serving in the Navy, he moved to the Syracuse area, worked as a Contractor and later, a Salesman. Leonard volunteered on Town Boards and gave time to organizations for the disabled. Physically active right up until the day of his surgery, the ever-deepened crows-feet worn at the corner of his now-tired eyes, spoke to a life filled with both great hardship and triumphal joy. His increasingly wracked and bent physique, unsure gait, but still well-muscled hands testified to a life of self-sacrificing service. Mr. Spinelli was a man of strong Faith who expressed his practical love for his Lord and Holy Father through a long-term, selfless commitment to volunteer work through his Church. He was a creative thinker whose gifts of clever wit and agile humor were a blessing to every life his life touched. Calling hours will take place at the Christian Apostolic Church on May 21st from 9:00am to 9:45am followed by the funeral service at 10:00am. Donations may be made to the Christian Apostolic Church 7300 Woodchuck Hill Road Fayetteville, NY 13066.
