Obituary of Dorothy Terry

Dorothy Elizabeth Terry, died on June 24th, 2014 at her home in Cazenovia, NY. She was 56 years old. She was born on October 15, 1957 in Newburgh, NY to Porter Hilliard Warren and Anne Turner Warren. Dorothy grew up in White Plains and Cornwall, NY. She moved to Cazenovia to attend Cazenovia College, where she received an Associates Degree in Childhood Education. She loved the Cazenovia community so much that she made it her permanent home. Dorothy was a loyal employee of Dielectric Laboratories for 36 years. She was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cazenovia, where she served on the Alter Guild and the Vestry. She also volunteered at Heritage Farm in Bouckville, NY, making crafts with the developmentally disabled. Dorothy valued her family above all else, and loved spending time with them, playing cards and celebrating birthdays and holidays. Dorothy loved Maine and traveled there often with family. She will always be remembered by her devotion to family and her loving spirit. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Porter Hilliard Warren and Anne Turner Warren, her brother, Phillip Hilliard Warren, and her first husband, Leland Gene Avery. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Ronald Terry, and son, Andrew Terry, of Cazenovia, NY, her sister Pamela (Peter Lawrence) Warren of Lexington, MA, her brother, Edward (Carla Castillo) Warren, of Philadelphia, PA, and 13 nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 10 Mill Street, Cazenovia, NY on Saturday, June 28th at 10:30 am. The Rev. Barb Schmitz, will be the officiant. A small reception will be held after the service in the Parish Hall. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alter Guild at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Cazenovia.
