James Barrett Holland, 78, of Cazenovia, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Jim was born in Flushing, NY on October 1, 1936, the son of Joan Barrett (Kay Russell from WSYR's "Ladies Day") and Lawrence McQuade. He attended Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse and lived in Warners. He joined the NAVY September 30, 1954, where he served on the USS Pocono during the Korean Conflict. Jim retired from Niagara Mohawk (National Grid ) after over 30 years, where he served as a hot stick lineman in Cazenovia. Jim was a volunteer driver for the Cazenovia Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was a member of the Numismatic Society of Cazenovia. Jim was a communicant of St. James Church where he was usher and active volunteer with him former wife, Nancy O'Mara Holland, with whom he resided. He is predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence M. Holland and Harry Holland and his sister, Susan Holland. He is survived by his nieces, Teresa Holland of Virginia, Andrea L. Holland Grunewald of New Windsor, NY; his nephews, William Holland and Michael Holland of Cary, NC. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews form the O'Mara, Clark, and Kraus families. We will all miss his sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. A Memorial Mass will take place in the Spring at St James Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in DeWitt.
