I have known Don since grade school, played lots of card games and kept in touch on Facebook and instant message. He will be missed by all of us. What I do know was that Don was a believer in Jesus Christ therefore "some sweet day" we will meet again.

We just learned of Don’s death and want to send our thoughts and prayers. We have many fond memories of visiting you both and attending some great Bluegrass concerts together. Both of us have walked the path you are walking and it isn’t easy but the support of family, friends, and coworkers makes the journey a bit easier. Take is one day at a time. We are away until the 15th or we would attend his service. Please know that you are in our thoughts over the next days and weeks to come. Liz and Gene

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Don. Growing up in Cicero just down the street from the Abbey's brings back a flood of memories. Don was one of my brother Greg's good buddies and Richard was my classmate. I tended to follow my brother around and got to ice skate, sled, make forts, climb trees and play kick the can with Don and all the Cicero gang. Having lost my own husband to cancer in September, my thoughts and prayers are with the Abbey family. God Bless.
