Obituary of Ruth Anne Koennecke

Ruth Anne Koennecke, 80, of Cazenovia, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016. She was born and raised on a Fenner farm, a daughter to the late Michael and Mary McCarthy Ryan, and graduated from Cazenovia High School. In 1956, she married Albert Koennecke of Ridge Road, where they went on to raise a large family, keeping their doors open to friends and family.
Ruth Anne gave back to her community as a member of the Women’s Council of Cornell Cooperative Extension, a 4-H leader, an election worker and an active communicant of St. James Church where she served as a youth ministry leader, a Eucharistic minister and an RCIA sponsor.
Ruth Anne worked at Carrier Corporation, Sears, Farm Family and Book Source Monthly.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Albert; son, Kurt; son-in-law, Charlie Lentz and grandson, Elliot Koennecke; sisters, Jean Arnold, Eileen Ryan, Patricia Dunne, Loretta Snyder and Bernadine Nickou; brother, Michael Ryan.
She is survived by her children, Marlene Lentz of Kennesaw, GA, Martin (Susan) Koennecke of Cazenovia, Kevin (Kim) Koennecke of Cazenovia, Annelise (Tom) O’Hara of Elmira, Kristina (Jose) Nunez of Cazenovia, Laura (James Moore) Koennecke of Niskayuna, Carl (Amanda) Koennecke of Delmar, and Sheryl (Charles) Davis of Syracuse; sister, Sheila Gill of Penfield; 20 grandchildren, Charlie A., Kyle, Andrew, Joe, Chelsea, Nick, Logan, Austin, Jeff, Ben, Bethany, Patrick, Gaby, Emma, Anna, Henry, Maya, Abby, Tadhg and Brigid; three great grandchildren, Wrigley, Teddy and Skyler as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours are 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday, September 11 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia.
