Obituary of Robert A. Hughes

Robert A. Hughes, 87, of Cazenovia died Monday at University Hospital in Syracuse. Robert was a member of the Cazenovia United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Fenner Conservation Club. He owned and operated an excavating business for twenty five years and was the owner of Bingley Cider Mill. Robert enjoyed many years pursuing his favorite pastime of hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen M. Tobin.
Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former, Rita Covey Hughes; two sons, Brian (Kathleen) Hughes and Rodney (Kim) Hughes; a sister, Marilyn Slauson; a brother, Bernard (Peggy) Hughes; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and two nephews.
Memorial services will be held 12 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road, Cazenovia. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until noon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made in Robert’s memory to the Fenner Conservation Club, 4823 South Butler Rd., Morrisville, NY 13408.
