Obituary of Arlene Okoniewski

          Arlene Sikes Okoniewski, 92, of Fulton, NY and Casselberry, FL passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, FL.   A native of Fulton, Arlene was the daughter of the late Friend James and Blanche A. Tooley Sikes.  Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Paul P. Okoniewski in 2007 and her sister, Grace St. Onge in 1978.

          Arlene was a graduate of Fulton High School and C.C.B.I.  Prior to raising her family, Arlene was employed as an executive secretary at the American Woolen Mill and the Victoria Paper Mill.  Arlene also assisted her husband in the operation of the Beechshire Hotel.  In later years, she was employed as the assistant activities director at St. Luke Residential Heath Care.

          Arlene was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. She was a member of Court Pere LeMoyne #855, Catholic Daughters of Americas and a volunteer at A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  In Florida, Arlene was active in many social and civic organizations.  She was a member of the Longwood Tourist Club, the South Seminole Garden Club, and the Casselberry Senior Citizens Club as well as the Floridian Club.

          Surviving are her children, Rusty Okoniewski of Orlando, FL, James Friend Okoniewski of Falls Church, VA, Lee E. (Sue) Okoniewski, Sr. of Fulton and Joy Ann (Leslie) Allen of Champaign, IL; four grandchildren, Lee Okoniewski, Jr., Nate Allen, Arlie Yruma, and Lydia Black; six great-grandchildren and a nephew, Edward St. Onge.

          A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Holy Trinity Church, 309 Buffalo St., Fulton. Memorial contributions may be made to Cody Fire Department, 31 Wilcox Rd., Fulton, NY 13069 or Friends of History in Fulton, 177 South First St., Fulton, NY 13069.
