Dear Gail, Peter, Jeffrey, and Nancy,
My sincere condolences to you on the deep loss of your wonderfully beautiful husband and father. I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know him in recent years as we conferred over the cancer affecting his body (and my wife's) and his incredible generosity in allowing me to use property he jointly owned in southern Cazenovia.
Peter personified kindness and each time we spoke his depth of spirit and love for others became more evident. I will always cherish the emails and conversations coming from this sage, and will keep your family squarely in my prayers in the days ahead.

Dearest Gail and Family Members; It was with great sadness that we learned of Peter's passing. Our family- immediate and extended- feels so lucky that he was such a presence in our lives for so many years. He was a devoted friend of our Mom and Dad ( Posey and Tom ) and a treasured memory of our daughter Lindsay who visited often from Maine. Lindsay adored spending time with both Gail and Peter and she sends her love and prayers. As my brother Tom said- " He was one of the best!" He had such a gentle and caring way about him which made him approachable on so many levels. He also was a master at getting the VCR to work for Mom who never seem to learn how to work it! Dad cherished his time at the Patch with Peter and both Mom and Dad said that you and Peter were the best neighbors anyone could ask for!!! We are sending to you all much love and sympathy for what I know is a tremendous loss in your lives. Thinking of you always. Love, Sally and Dan

Though I only had the privilege of meeting Peter once, at Megan and Peter's wedding, I can certainly recognize what a special man he was. To have raised, along with Gail, of course, such an awesome son as Peter, he must have been a wonderful father. To have given up the high-paying NYC life to become a "country lawyer" for the benefit of raising his family speaks to a man of great integrity. My deepest sympathy to all of you who loved and admired this remarkable man.

My Condolences for your loss. I did not know Mr Mitchell, but I have heard of him and his character. The hardest thing about losing Mr Mitchell is the void they leave behind when their Character and personality is so big. I lost my mother last year who was such a big part of my life and not a day goes by that I don't think about her. It's the price we pay when we lose someone we love so much who had such an impact on our lives.

My heart aches for you and your family. My deepest condolences for your loss.
I will always remember Mr. Mitchell, dressed in his tuxedo, coming to dinner at my parents home, with the biggest smile.
Those we love can never be more than a thought away, for.as long as there is a memory they live in our hearts to stay.

Gail and family
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Peter. He will be remembered by all as a very special person and a true gentleman. He had many friends on both sides of the political aisle. That is a testament to the man he was and family and friends he touched.

Peter Mitchell was indeed the consummate gentleman who always had a kind word interlaced with his lighthearted humor. He was definitely a classic and truly lived the life of a selfless country attorney, always working in the best interest of others.
We send our sincere condolences to Gail and the entire family on his passing.
