Obituary of Sheila Ryan Gill

      Sheila Ryan Gill, 80, of Penfield, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Cazenovia and was a graduate of Cazenovia High School and LeMoyne College. Sheila taught mathematics with the Jamesville Dewitt School District for six years prior to receiving her Master’s degree from the University of Illinois. Sheila was a tax professional with H & R Block in Rochester for over 30 years. She also volunteered her time to transport people for medical appointments and dialysis treatments.  

 

      Sheila is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, James Gill; her daughter, Elizabeth Gill; her son, Harold (Jessica) Gill; her grandchildren Benjamin, Sophie and Claire as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Molly Ryan; her siblings Jean Arnold, Eileen Ryan, Patricia Dunne, Loretta Snyder, Bernadette Nickou, Ruth Anne Koennecke and Michael Ryan.

 

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or to the American Cancer Society at donate3.cancer.org in memory of Sheila.
