Obituary of Susan Sweetland

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Susan “Susie” B. Sweetland, of Fabius, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, December 23, 2019. She was born in Syracuse to Carl and Cecile (O’Dell) Bobbette. Susie was a graduate of Fabius High School and continued her education at the Powelson Business Institute. Susie spent her career in Marketing and Advertising at Agway and Niagara Mohawk, before starting her own promotion and marketing business, Pizzazz Specialties, which she proudly owned for 20 years. She was also the Superintendent of the Dairy Products Building at the State Fair for 10 years. Susie enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, traveling, her golf league, spending time on her boat and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for being the life of the party, her quick wit, sense of humor and her warm smile. She was a hard worker that took great pride in everything she did. Susie was always there to lend an ear or a hand for someone that needed help. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dale Sweetland of Fabius; her children, Karen B. (John) Hayes of Pompey and Daniel A. (Jennifer) Sweetland of Fabius; her grandchildren, Jayden Evans, Stephen Bodley and Finley Sweetland; her brothers, Richard (Helen) Bobbette and Edwin (Lenora) Bobbette both of Pompey; her sister, Marjorie Haynes of Fabius; several nieces and nephews and her dog, George. In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her brothers, Finley, Robert, John, Steven Bobbette and her brother-in-law Phil Haynes. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 with services to follow at the Pompey Community Church, 2555 Berwyn Road, Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Susan to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, the American Cancer Society at donate3.cancer.org or to the Fabius Volunteer Fire Department, 7825 Main Street, Fabius, New York 13063.
