Obituary of Sean Patrick O'Hara

Please share a memory of Sean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sean Patrick O’Hara, 41, of Boston, formerly of Cazenovia, passed away at his home on May 27, 2020. He was born July 19, 1978 in Syracuse and was a graduate of Cazenovia High School where he was a member of their football, basketball and baseball teams. Sean continued his education and was a graduate of the University of Rochester where he was a member of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity and a member of their football team. Sean was the kindest, most compassionate and thoughtful person. He would do anything to help someone, and go out of his way to make everyone around him happy. He could talk on the phone for hours and made sure to let his friends and family know how much he loved them. Sean loved sports and didn’t miss a game by the Los Angeles Lakers, NY Mets, Boston Celtics or Denver Broncos. He could recite movie quotes for hours and loved Michael Jordan, Deon Sanders, Kobe Bryant & Daryl Strawberry. Sean had a remarkable way with words and was a gifted public speaker. He was a very talented athlete and loved being with his teammates on the football field or basketball court. He never let you leave without a huge hug and enjoyed spending any chance he could with his nephew. We will forever remember the swagger in his walk, the twinkle in his eye, his smile that lit up the room and his sincere love for everyone. Sean had been employed as a bartender in Boston for the last 10 ½ years and in his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hiking, fishing, traveling, cooking, golfing and photography. Sean is survived by his mother, Virginia Lynne O’Hara of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his sister, Heather Lynne (Paul) Carmola of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his brother, Ryan David O’Hara of Boston, MA; his nephew, Jackson David Carmola; two aunts, Karen O’Hara and Sharon O’Hara Nelson; three uncles, Kevin (Beth) O’Hara, Dennis O’Hara and Thomas Emmons as well as several cousins. Sean was predeceased by his father, David Patrick O’Hara in 2001; his uncle, Michael O’Hara and by his grandparents. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2020 in St. James Cemetery, Lincklaen Rd., Cazenovia. Social distancing and face coverings are required.
