Marian was my classmate, study buddy, and dear friend in vet school. After vet school, as life pulled our attentions in different directions we lost touch - though I'd like to think we remained connected. I remember how (justifiably) proud she was of her sister for completing a solo through-hike of the Appalachian Trail. I remember her handsome happy-go-lucky Collie. I remember our walks. I remember a bright, lovely, intelligent, kind, accomplished, easy friend. My sincere condolences to family and friends.

I knew of Marian, as a I am a fellow large animal veterinarian in CNY. I only met her in person once, but I am so sad to hear she passed away. In our brief meeting, she seemed like a sweet and caring veterinarian. I'm sure all of her patients will miss her:(

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Marion's passing. She was a neighbor and a babysitter for us when she was in high school. I hadn't seen her often in later years, but when I did, I was again aware of how sweet she was. Her athletic ability and veterinary skills are well known. She will be missed by so many people. I'm so sorry we lost this wonderful person, and I send heartfelt condolences to her family.

Marion and I graduated together from Caz 1980 and we both were track runners she was an awesome athlete and I got to know her a little in high school and after she became a veterinarian she came to my relatives house to care for cats and dogs. She was dedicated to her work and she left this world a better place . She made a difference and will be missed now and at our class reunion. Shalom Marion !

To all of Marian's lovely family,
Marian and I have not kept in touch but were close high school friends and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. Besides having a huge heart, unbelievable perseverance, and a smile that would light a room Marian was a strong and gifted woman. One of my most cherished memories was horseback riding through the fields of Cazenovia, wandering aimlessly almost the entire day, and racing through some of the flat, open fields. I send you my love and hugs and definitely some of our wonderful Tucson sunshine.
Hugs,
Judy Masterson Butler and Eric Butler

To R.E. and Marian's family and her horses and dogs, I am so sorry to hear of Marian's passing. My first time meeting Marian was when she was riding for Louis Holmes; I thought then what a gorgeous and nice woman who had it all! A cute memory was when she arrived one day for the horses and R.E. was sitting in the truck with his head down, I told Marian I thought her dog was more company than R.E. and up popped his head, to which he replied "you're right!" .. whoops he was on his cell! R.E. we are right down the road if you need anything, I'm so very sorry. Love Jan Holden

Although I never met Dr. Sears in person, I was awestruck at her hard work in spaying and neutering the many cats, on behalf of the CNYCC, that I rescued over the past 2 years. Her passing hit me very hard. I know she was greeted by many furry friends on the better side of the Rainbow Bridge. We should all be so lucky.

To everyone,
It was a shock to read that Marian died! She has been in our lives for 25 yrs for our horses and always had deep compassion whatever the situation. I always trusted her knowledge and decisions in caring for them. Even though we no longer needed her large-animal expertise, she was in our memories for the kindness and enthusiasm she had for animals and humans.
We send our deepest condolences to R. E. and her loved-ones....

My heartfelt condolences go out to R.E. and to all her family members. Marion was a delightful person, so much fun to be around. Always smiling her beautiful smile. When she came to our place, to care for the horses, she showed such compassion. When R.E. came with her it was obvious what a great relationship they had. She was so loving and caring in her work. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. The cat coalition and the many animals she helped care for, will miss her dearly. She was taken much too soon.

I met Dr. Sears when she started doing spay/neuter surgeries for the CNY Cat Coalition and I just adored her instantly. We talked about cats and rescue, but also our backgrounds running track at Cornell (she was much better than I ever was!). She fixed at least 50 of my foster cats over the past few years, saving so many lives and giving the friendly ones a chance at better lives. I am amazed at how she fixed totally feral cats all by herself. What an amazing woman!

I was so shocked and saddened to read of Marian's passing. She was so young and had so much more to do and five in her life. Years ago she used to come to my house as a "farm call" even though she was checking on my house full of cats and dogs to keep them up to date on vaccinations and save me from multiple trips to a local vet. Marian made my life so much easier and I was sad when she had to tell me she could not dom the calls any longer. She will always be remembered smiling at my kitchen table taking care of my large house cat family one at a time on that kitchen table.. My deepest condolences toe R.E. and the rest of her family and friends. The animals lost a really special one with Marian leaving for that Rainbow Bridge. May all the memories bring love and eventually smiles to you all

So sorry to hear about the loss of Mare. My bestie when we were little. I am so proud of her for following her dream and becoming a veterinarian. I loved going to the cool Teitsch's house when I was a kid. I remember playing on the spools in the yard. We would get in the center hole while her brother's would stand on top and roll us across the yard. Great memories. Godspeed Marian, the world is a little less bright today.
