Obituary of Jeanne Keefe

Jeanne M. Keefe, 69, of Cazenovia, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021. She was born in Syracuse on October 9, 1951 to Frank and Margaret Cunningham and was a graduate of Cazenovia High School in 1969. Jeanne continued her education graduating from Fredonia State University in 1974. She received her MSW from Syracuse University and was a Clinical Social Worker that counselled troubled youth. Jeanne was a communicant of St. James Church in Cazenovia where she taught religious education. She directed musicals at Cazenovia High School and participated in community plays in Syracuse along with the Pompey Players. Jeanne enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and Syracuse University Basketball. Jeanne professed her strong faith in God and always looked forward to meeting with her bible study group. She is survived by her children, Katherine (Joshua) Anderson of Silver Spring, MD, Kevin (Deidre) Keefe of Cicero, Brian (Alexandra) Keefe of Hoboken, NJ and Daniel Keefe of Los Angeles; two brothers, Paul (Diane) Cunningham of Pittsford and Michael (Keli) Cunningham of Erieville; three grandchildren, Jameson, Sutton and Cameron Keefe as well as several nieces and nephews. Jeanne’s family would like to extend a special thank you the staff at Crouse Community Center for the compassionate care they provided to their mother, it is truly appreciated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia and livestreamed at www.stjamescaz.org. If you plan to attend Jeanne’s funeral mass, you must register with the church at 315-655-3441. Covid 19 precautions will be in effect. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
