Obituary of Irene C. Spinelli

Irene Camilla (Giuliano) Spinelli passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born in Jersey City into a large family at the height of the Depression. She learned self-sacrifice and a strong work ethic that would later guide her as a mother of (4), including one child born with special needs. She married Leonard Spinelli, her late husband of 62 years, in 1951 and moved to Syracuse in 1959. Blessed with the gift of a nurturing personality and extraordinary compassion, she managed her household and raised her children with love and Godly values. This she did more by quiet example than any other method. A woman of great faith, Irene was that rare hybrid of quiet, uncompromising strength and sublime inner beauty. She radiated joy and demonstrated a genuine love for others — particularly young children. She leaves a legacy of abiding love, and steadfast obedience to her Heavenly Father. Irene is predeceased by her husband, Leonard, and her son David. She is survived by her daughter, Esther (John) Caletka, son Stephen (Pauline) Spinelli, and daughter Elise Spinelli; her grandchildren Danielle (Daniel) Behm, Nathaniel (Jessica), Christopher, and Peter Spinelli; her sister Rosetta Tavolaro and brothers Arthur and Ernest Giuliano along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:50 a.m., Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Christian Apostolic Church, 7300 Woodchuck Hill Road, Fayetteville, NY 13066 with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon.
