Leighton was a wonderful man. I worked on the Fenner planning board with him; he was helpful, kind, funny, and very supportive of me in a difficult situation. I valued his friendship so very highly. I have missed him alot and I will never forget him. My heart goes out to his family for their loss.

It was with deep sorrow when I learned that Leighton had passed away. He sure put up a valiant fight against the Parkinson's over all those years.
I enjoyed some great Grouse hunts with him over the years as well as the annual gatherings at Pynn's camp in Erieville. He will be sorely missed by all.
My deepest condolences go out to you and yours.

Our deepest condolences to the Bookout family. Leighton was a great neighbor, and so welcoming to us as we were new to the community.

Leighton was a great guy and friendly to all. He always asked me how I shot at the trap shoots. He was a very good shot himself with his side by side... He will definitely be missed at the rod and gun club. My deepest condolences to the Bookout family.

As a friend of Sue, I was so lucky to have known Mr. Bookhout. Although I am certain that he made everyone feel this way, he always made me feel like I was special and was always ready with a joke, a smile, and his easygoing manner. I can picture him making his own bullets in the kitchen. He would certainly be doing that this time of year. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Leighton and I have been best friends for 50 years. The many hunting trips we went on together were just unforgettable. We traveled countless miles to Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and the many wilderness trips up to the Cold River in the Adirondacks. We shared a special place on a mountain behind camp at Cold River, where we would have lunch. There will be s small monument placed there on my next trip. He was someone I looked up to, and try to emulate every day. Heartbroken. To Julie, Sue, Jill and family....."May time ease your sorrow, and may beautiful memories bring you comfort and peace."

A man with a heart of gold! Always had a smile! When my daughter Alecia and I had our head start lesson day there he always stopped and said hello and receive a hug from his High Pockets. A nickname he gave her and she still cherishes to this day! We are truly blessed and honored to have known Leighton. May he rest in peace. God Bless you our dear friend. I’ll always remember Leighton’s sense of humor and twinkle in his eye when he smiled. He loved my best friend with all his heart.

One of the most cordial, pleasant man I have ever met.
Shot trap with him while representing Camillus and we had lots of great conversation.
I as well as many other people will miss.
Gods speed my friend and my prayers will follow.

My memories of Leighton begin in childhood when my parents ued to go to his parents; home to visit and play cards. Our lives intersected many times thereafter at MECS and later in the Cazenovia community. Always relaxed and congenial, he was a good man who enjoyed his life with family and his community. My sincere condolences to Julie, Jill, Sue and their family and friends.
